Preparation and Characterization of Losartan Potassium Tablets

Abstract: The objective of the present study was to Preparation and characterization of losartan potassium drug. The active ingredient of losartan potassium is an angiotensin receptor blocker which works by preventing of high blood pressure (hypertension). The development of three strengths (25 mg, 50mg and 100 mg), trials were taken only for higher strength (100 mg) and optimized to get an inter convertible formula to perform the in-vitro drug release pattern from tablet and compared with the innovator sample of Cozaar tablets. Blend was evaluated for tests such as bulk density, compressibility index, LOD, tapped density, hardness ratio and sieve analysis before being punched as tablets. Tablets were tested for weight variation, thickness, hardness, friability and disintegration. the batches of LP-1 to LP-7 were taken for trails and subjected for tests. In vitro dissolution tests were performed and F1 and F2 values were calculated. Dissolution profile of LP 4 formulation was matched with innovator and F2 value was satisfactory. The formulation LP-04 has been selected as the final formula for Losartan potassium tablets (100mg), accordingly, it can be concluded that the final formulation is a robust one and the performance is less likely to be affected by the various factors studied. An excellent in vitro and in vivo correlation is expected as evident from degree of similarity found in gradient dissolution in different media and release kinetics with respect to reference listed drug product Cozaar.

Abstract: Nutritional status is both a reflection of health status and one of its best indicators. It is influenced by several individual, socio-environmental, demographic and economic factors. In our country, undernutrition is still a heavy burden, especially among disadvantaged groups. (This work has two parts) This work is devided to two parts. The first part is about evaluating socio-economic indicators, the second one turns about assessement of the nutritional status of children in primary public schools in the rural municipality of Kariat ben aouda in the province of Kenitra. Our study includes a sample of 138 students in 5th and 6th grades, aged between 10 to 14 years old with an average age of 11.91 ±1.26 and extremes of 9 and 15 years old, of which 49% are girls (N=68), 51% were boys (N=70), and the value of khi two = 0.029 for the sexe ratio. The majority of the children in our population belong to families that have a low socio-economic level, 39.86% of the fathers householders are peasants. The educational level of the parents remains low only 5.072% of the fathers have a university degree, 37.681% have a secondary level and 45.65% have a primary level. For mothers 88.235% are illiterate, 10.294% have a primary level and 0% have a bac level and up. According to the results, it was concluded that 13.66% (T/A-2z score) with a statutory insufficiency.

Keywords: Based on the study’s analysis of nutritional status, the Z-score values are: (-0.432) for T/A, (-0.381) for P/A and (- 1.02) for BMI . According to these values, the population remains undernourished.

Abstract: The COVID-19 virus, emerged at the end of 2019 began threatening the health and lives of millions of people within few weeks. At present all regions of the world, declared lockdown for controlling highly contagious and pandemic virus. During this lockdown period people are restricted to stay at home, for few weeks. During the idle stay at home for very long hours, will cause mental health problems, like stress, fear, anxiety, depression and sleep problems. In this present study, the researcher, made an attempt to study the impact on mental health of individuals during the lockdown period. The basic aim of this study: is to find out the viz. 1) “Mental health problems” and its influence on „Gender, Age, Marital status and Occupation‟ differences; 2) The impact of “Life style during COVID-19 and Awareness of COVID-19 and, 3)Physical illness and Habits on Age and Gender ” of individuals. The data has been collected through online questionnaire, and analyzed using “one way analysis of variance”, t-test and Correlation. The study found that significant mental health problems attributed more in female than male folk. There is significant social dysfunction in female than male. Middle age group i.e. (30-44) have more stress and pressure of future and job shortening are creating depression. Moreover physical illness more in female group such as blood pressure and diabetes.
