Overview of the Role of Chromatographic Modes in Pharmaceutical Peptide Analysis

Abstract: Peptides represent promising candidates for medical treatments. They can be designed for high specificity, which minimises the adverse effects. Ensuring their purity, identity, and quality is crucial to their therapeutic efficacy. Peptides exhibit different physical and chemical properties (such as charge, pI, hydrophobic nature, size, etc.). These characteristics complicate the separation of a mixture of peptides. Various analytical techniques were employed for peptide purification, mapping, and identification. HPLC remains the preferred method for analysing peptides. Different HPLC modes were applied to separate peptides from their impurities and related substances. Among these modes, ion exchange, reversed-phase, normal-phase, and HILIC were performed to achieve peptide separation. This review will discuss chromatographic techniques and their role in peptide analysis, including the study of peptide mixtures, the creation of peptide maps, and the isolation of the peptide of interest from associated compounds.

Method Development and Validation of Assay of Docusate Sodium in Docusate Sodium Liquid Filled Capsules by HPLC Method

Abstract: Although the USP monograph has provided the method for the determination of % Assay of Docusate sodium in Docusate sodium capsules, it could not produce precise and accurate results in the existing laboratory environment. Thus, the method for the Determination of Assay for Docusate Sodium in Soft Gelatin Capsules was developed on high‐performance liquid Chromatographic (HPLC) using Certified Reference Material Pharmaceutical Secondary Standard. A reversed-phase chromatographic method was created using a reversed-phase column to quantify the potency of docusate sodium from a Soft Gelatin liquid-filled capsule, 100mg. The process was validated according to ICH Q2R2 guidelines for Specificity, Precision (System precision, Method precision, Intermediate Precision), Linearity and Accuracy.

Abstract: Nanoscience is now used in many clinical and medical domains, including the treatment of cancer. On the other hand, many people have cancer and its variants, which have been rumoured to be inclusive. In actuality, despite the therapeutic impact, patients have uncomfortable side effects from modern treatment procedures like chemotherapy, radiation, etc. To address this severe sickness, researchers and scientists are also trying to develop and improve treatment alternatives and approaches. These days, nanotechnology and nanoscience are widely used. Their various fields, such as nanoparticles, are frequently employed for a variety of purposes, particularly in imaging, drug delivery, and diagnostic devices. The release of cancer is significantly impacted by release mechanisms centered on nanotechnology [1]. The precision medicine era has led to bottlenecks in traditional medications, including decreased solubility, reduced absorption, and particularly ineffective targeting of specific organs or cells. To address the flaws above, it is critically necessary to find and implement new techniques or tactics to alter existing medications or develop new ones. Although there are still numerous shortcomings, the solubility, absorption, and targeting of conventional medicines have been significantly enhanced with the use of nanotechnology through the modification and fabrication of different kinds of nanoparticles [2].

Development and Assessment of an Herbal Bath Soap Enriched with Plant Extracts

Abstract: The primary aim of this study is to develop an ecofriendly Ayurvedic bath soap using water-based extracts of plants with dermatological benefits as described in Ayurveda, specifically Orange peel, Aloevera and Almond oil. Orange peels were extracted in water, and this extract was combined with oils and lye in a saponification process to produce the soap. The resulting soap was evaluated for its physicochemical properties, including total fatty matter, moisture content, and pH, exhibiting favourable characteristics across these parameters. The formulated soap is suitable for all skin types. With further standardisation, it may serve as an alternative to commercial medicinal soaps for skin whitening and acne treatment purposes.

Abstract: The integration of digital health technologies has transformed patient care by enabling the development of intelligent systems that assist in medical decision-making. This paper introduces a Drug Recommendation System (DRS) designed to analyze user-inputted symptoms and recommend appropriate medications. Utilizing advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques, the system preprocesses and classifies textual symptom data, facilitating accurate drug suggestions. The implementation of machine learning algorithms, particularly the Multinomial Naive Bayes classifier, allows for the effective prediction of suitable medications based on historical symptom-drug associations. This research highlights the potential of DRS in enhancing clinical workflows by reducing the cognitive burden on healthcare providers and improving patient safety through personalised medication recommendations. Furthermore, the system’s user-friendly interface ensures accessibility, empowering patients with knowledge about their conditions and potential treatments. By harnessing the power of data-driven insights, this study aims to contribute to the advancement of personalised healthcare solutions, thereby enhancing patient outcomes and satisfaction.
